MyRecipes - Everything You Need to Know About Garlic
This artwork is a collection of sketches for an article feature on different types of garlic.
This is the very early concept stage. I was trying different angles and seeing which direction they wanted to go.
The further I kept defining shadows, the more realistic the result.
Just as feng shei applies in a physical space, rearranging objects in a scene can move your eye around the page a lot differently.
This actual was the selected concept. They liked the aerial view of the cutting board to get a better angle on the objects. Again, moving things around to see which looks better and even shifting things over and swapping out objects around.
This is the progression to the final. Adding more textures and refining and softening. Removing outlines and only using lines where necessary.
